Capabilities & Research
The competences behind every solution: how we design and produce a knitted structure, how we verify it, the research we carry out with partners, and the patents and publications that document it.
01 · Engineering & Manufacturing
Design and production stay in the same hands: the team that defines the structure is the team that knits it.
Fibres and yarns chosen for the target function: metallic wires, para-aramids, inherently flame-retardant, natural and biodegradable fibres.
Stitch architecture and unit cell defined in CAD against the target property, for 2D fabrics and 3D double-bed structures.
Short iterations on flat-bed machines: samples are knitted, measured and revised until the structure meets the requirement.
Industrial flat-bed knitting of 2D and 3D structures with controlled yarn feeding, from sample to production.
02 · Characterisation & Validation
In-house methods give a fast functional pre-screening at every design iteration. Qualification against standards is carried out at accredited testing laboratories.
CAD and photographic analysis of loop geometry, wale and course pitch, unit-cell consistency.
Full-field strain mapping on samples and on the body, used for mechanics and garment design.
Model of the textile mesh used to predict and assess multi-band reflectivity.
In-house tests on samples to verify the target function early (cut resistance, thermal behaviour, electromagnetic shielding) and select the candidates worth qualifying.
Qualification. Tests to recognised standards are carried out at accredited laboratories, e.g. Centrocot, Arrow Switzerland.
